Not through LetterAgent: your letter goes out as soon as you approve the quote and pay, with no pick-a-date step. If you want a letter held and mailed later, several mail services offer scheduled sending: you upload the letter, pick a date, and can cancel before it goes out.
Scheduled mail solves the "don't forget later" problem for letters that have to arrive in a window. Common cases:
The unifying trait is that the content is final but the timing is not yet right. Scheduling removes the need to remember.
The mechanics are similar across providers. You compose or upload the letter now, choose the date it should enter the mail stream, and the service stores the job. Most services let you edit or cancel the letter any time before the print run, which is usually the business day before the scheduled send date. After that cutoff the letter is committed: it will be printed, enveloped, and posted like any normal letter.
One detail worth knowing: the send date you pick is typically the day the letter is handed to the post office, not the day it arrives. If the letter must arrive by a deadline, schedule the send date a few business days earlier. And if you cancel after the cutoff, cancellation usually fails silently on the scheduling side but the letter still goes out: treat the cutoff as the real deadline.
This is the genuine risk of scheduling: the world moves while your letter waits. The recipient moves, your plans change, the facts in the letter go stale. Good practice:
| Approach | Best when | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Scheduled send | The letter content is final; you just want it out the door later | Address or facts going stale before the send date |
| LetterAgent now | The letter needs to go today | No future-date option: your letter is mailed once you approve and pay |
| Reminder + send later | The content isn't written yet, or the date is genuinely uncertain | You can still forget; the reminder is only as good as your attention to it |
The honest rule of thumb: if the letter is written and the date is certain, schedule it. If either is uncertain, send it now or write it later. A queued letter you forgot about and never reviewed can do more harm than a letter sent a week early.
Not currently. When you mail a letter with LetterAgent, the flow is: quote, approve the exact price, pay once through Stripe, and the letter is printed and mailed. If you need a letter to go out on a specific future date, the practical workaround is to prepare the letter's content now and submit it to your AI assistant on or just before the date you want it to go out. For letters that must hit an exact arrival date, submit a few business days early to account for postal transit.
