Yes: USPS Registered Mail covers Canada. The item travels under USPS custody until the border, then Canada Post carries it with registered handling on its side, and the signature record comes back through the postal system. Delivery time is slower than certified mail, and tracking visibility can thin out at the handoff.

When you send registered mail from the US to Canada, USPS holds the item under its registered chain of custody until it reaches the exchange office near the border, where it clears customs. From that point, Canada Post takes over and applies its own registered-handling rules on the Canadian side: the item keeps its registered status the whole way. The two posts cooperate under universal postal agreements, so the signature obtained at the Canadian doorstep makes its way back to the US sender through the postal system rather than through a private courier's database.
One practical consequence: tracking updates often stop for a stretch during and right after the handoff. The item is still moving under registered custody; the online scans just lag the physical item. This is normal for registered mail across borders, not a sign the item is lost.
Domestically, registered mail in the US gets a signature at delivery as a matter of routine, with tight control over who can receive it. Going into Canada, the delivery follows Canada Post's registered-mail conventions: the item is treated as a registered item (signature, controlled handoff), but the exact pickup rules and hold periods at the local post office follow Canadian practice. If the recipient isn't home, the item is held for pickup and the recipient gets a delivery notice, the same way Canada Post handles registered items mailed within Canada.
Another nuance: registered mail to Canada requires customs documentation even for documents, because it crosses an international border. That adds a small formality that domestic registered mail skips entirely.
If speed matters more than maximum security, Canada Post's Xpresspost-USA service (bought from the Canadian side) and USPS Priority Mail International (from the US side) both offer tracking and delivery confirmation across the border at much faster transit times. They don't carry the same level of indemnity or chain-of-custody rigor as registered mail, but for everyday important documents they hit the right balance. LetterAgent's shipping labels cover Canada Post Xpresspost within Canada only, so a US-to-Canada cross-border label is outside what LetterAgent can produce.
Registered mail earns its slow pace when the document's loss would be genuinely painful: legal filings, irreplaceable originals, items where a court or agency demands the highest postal proof of mailing. The registered chain of custody is the postal equivalent of a paper trail with witnesses at every step. For routine cross-border letters, first-class international mail (trackable add-ons where available) or an express service does the job with less ceremony.
