What's the fastest way to ship within Canada?

Canada Post Priority and same-day couriers are the fastest options, with next-business-day delivery across major city corridors and guaranteed delivery dates on the premium tier. Xpresspost is one step down: still fast, and available as a flat-rate label from LetterAgent by asking your AI assistant. For remote areas, fastest is relative: geography sets a hard floor no service can beat.

What is the fastest service for documents and small parcels?

Between major cities, Canada Post Priority is the fastest widely available option: it flies, it is processed first, and on many lanes it comes with a guaranteed delivery date, which means compensation if it arrives late. Private couriers sell equivalent overnight products with door-to-door tracking that some businesses prefer. For letters and documents specifically, Priority envelopes move through the same fast stream. One honest caveat: "guaranteed" applies to the lanes the carrier commits to, not every postal code in the country. Before you pay the premium, check the delivery standard for your exact origin and destination: the carrier's lookup tool will tell you the committed date for that lane.

What about same-day couriers?

Within a single metro area, nothing beats a local same-day courier: a driver picks up your parcel and drives it straight to the recipient, often within hours. This is the right answer for forgotten passports, critical parts, and legal documents with same-day deadlines. Prices are quoted per trip and reflect distance and urgency, so a cross-town rush costs real money. Outside metro areas, same-day service simply does not exist: the economics need density. And same-day couriers are separate companies from the national carriers, so you book them directly or through a broker, not at the post office counter.

Why is the fastest option sometimes not worth it?

Because the bottleneck is often not the service tier. A Priority parcel dropped off after the day's cut-off time sits until the next processing window, arriving no sooner than an Xpresspost parcel dropped off before it. Cut-off times vary by location and are earlier than most people expect, sometimes mid-afternoon. Weekends and holidays pause everything except same-day couriers. And for remote destinations, every tier converges: a parcel to a northern community travels on the same weekly flight regardless of what you paid, so the premium buys you almost nothing. The fastest choice is the fastest tier dropped off before the cut-off, to a destination the carrier actually serves quickly: miss any of those three and you paid extra for nothing.

When does a LetterAgent label fit?

LetterAgent sells Canada Post Xpresspost shipping labels: flat-rate, Canada-only, up to 5 kg. You describe the parcel to your AI assistant, approve the exact quoted price, pay once through Stripe, and get the label PDF. Xpresspost sits one tier below Priority, which makes it the sweet spot when you need real speed without the top-tier price: urgent enough to matter, not so urgent that only Priority or a courier will do. Drop the labelled parcel at a post office before the cut-off and it moves in the fast stream the same day.

How do you actually shave a day off a shipment?

Drop off early, not just on time. Morning drop-offs catch the day's first sort; afternoon drop-offs risk rolling to the next day. Use the carrier's own packaging where it helps: prepaid flat-rate envelopes skip the weighing and measuring queue at the counter. Print your label at home so the parcel goes straight into the drop bin. And choose the destination wisely when you can: shipping to a recipient's workplace in a major centre is often a day faster than to a rural home address on the same lane, because business districts get earlier and more frequent delivery runs.
