Yes. ChatGPT and Claude can create shipping labels when they are connected to a label tool, and LetterAgent is one of those tools: you ask your AI assistant for a label, approve the exact quoted price, pay once through Stripe, and receive a label PDF. One honest limit up front: LetterAgent labels are Canada-only flat-rate Xpresspost, 5 kg max, so it cannot make US or international labels.
The assistant does not invent the label itself. It calls a connected shipping tool, passes in your shipment details, and hands you back a real carrier label. Here is the flow with LetterAgent:
| Step | What happens | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Describe the shipment | You tell your AI assistant the sender and recipient addresses, box size, and weight. | Type a plain sentence: "I need to ship a 30 cm box from Toronto to Vancouver." |
| 2. Get a quote | LetterAgent returns a per-label quote for a Canada Post Xpresspost label. | Nothing yet: just read it. |
| 3. Approve the exact price | You confirm the total before anything is created. | Say yes in the chat. |
| 4. Pay once | A one-time Stripe payment covers the label. | Check out with your card. |
| 5. Get the label PDF | The assistant gives you a label file with the tracking number on it. | Print it, stick it on the box, and drop the parcel off. |
There is no account to create and nothing to install. The whole exchange happens in the chat you are already using.
Keep it simple: where the parcel is going, where it is coming from, and roughly how big and heavy it is. Postal codes matter more than city names, because the quote is built from them. A photo of the packed box works too, if your assistant can see images, since it can read the dimensions off the photo for you.
Two details people get wrong. First, the weight still has to be declared even though the rate is flat: the label is flat-rate Xpresspost, which means the price does not change with weight, but only up to 5 kg. Over that, the label will not be valid. Second, print the label at full size. Most label PDFs are designed for a standard page, and shrinking it to fit (or printing at 90 percent) can make the barcode unreadable at the depot, which delays your parcel while someone re-keys it.
Three plain limits. First, LetterAgent cannot make labels for shipments leaving Canada: no US labels, no international labels, no customs forms. If your parcel crosses a border, use a carrier site or a multi-carrier shipping app instead. Second, the 5 kg ceiling is hard: a 6 kg parcel needs a different service. Third, the assistant hands you the label; it does not book a courier pickup at your door. You drop the parcel at a post office or arrange the pickup yourself.
The tracking number on the label works the same as any carrier label: you can paste it into the carrier's tracking page and watch the parcel move. Your assistant can usually check that status for you later if you ask.
Use a carrier site or shipping app when your shipment needs anything LetterAgent does not cover: US or international destinations, parcels over 5 kg, multiple parcels in one batch, or scheduled pickups. The assistant route shines for the simple case: one Canadian parcel, one label, done in a chat. For anything with customs paperwork or freight, the carrier's own flow will ask you the right questions in the right order.
