Home > Guides > Ship a towel set
Fold each towel flat, roll it tight, and pack the set in a plastic bag inside a sturdy box. That keeps the set clean, dry, and compact in transit, and it stops loose folds from shifting. For a Canada shipment, weigh the packed box first, since a towel set can weigh more than it looks.
Towels ship best rolled, not folded flat in a stack. A rolled towel holds its shape, fills dead space in the box, and is less likely to crease in a hard line that shows after unpacking. Fold each towel in thirds lengthwise first, then roll from one short end to the other, keeping the roll snug but not stretched. Terry loops catch on rough cardboard and on hook-and-loop fasteners, so keep towels away from anything with a rough or grippy surface inside the box.
Place the rolls in a clear plastic bag and squeeze out most of the air before sealing it. The bag is your moisture barrier: a damp box in a delivery van, or a box set down on wet ground, can soak straight through cardboard. If the set is a gift, wrap a ribbon or a paper band around the bagged rolls rather than around bare towels, so the band never snags a loop.
Pick a box that fits the rolls with about an inch of space on each side, no more. A box that is too large lets the rolls tumble, and a box that is too small compresses the pile until it springs back against the tape. Bath towels are bulky, so a large mailing box usually fits a set of four to six, while hand towels and washcloths fit a much smaller box. Test the fit before you tape anything: close the flaps and press down gently. If the flaps bulge upward, the box is overfilled.
Fill gaps with crumpled packing paper, not loose peanuts that work their way between towels and cling to the fabric. A single sheet of tissue between the bag and the box wall also stops the plastic from squeaking against cardboard, which matters less for safety and more for how the parcel feels when the recipient opens it.
| Item | Packing note | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Bath towels | Roll each one, bag the set together | Terry loops snagging on rough surfaces |
| Hand towels | Roll or fold flat on top of bath towels | Dye transfer if packed damp |
| Washcloths | Tuck into the centre of the roll bundle | Small pieces slipping out of an open bag |
| Gift sets | Paper band around the sealed bag | Ribbon tied directly on bare towels |
Yes, if they are used. Wash and fully dry the set first, and never pack towels that are even slightly damp. Damp cotton mildews fast in a sealed bag, and mildew smell does not wash out easily once it sets. New towels can go straight in, but shake them out first: loose lint and factory dust settle in the folds and transfer to anything packed beside them.
One detail people miss: fabric softener leaves a coating that reduces absorbency, and a recipient who cares about that will notice. If you washed the set to send it, skip the softener and the dryer sheets, and mention on a packing note that the towels were laundered without softener. It is a small touch, and it tells the recipient the set is ready to use.
Ask your AI assistant for a Canada Post Xpresspost shipping label through LetterAgent, approve the exact quoted price, and print the label PDF. LetterAgent labels are Canada-only, flat-rate Xpresspost, and cover parcels up to 5 kg. If the parcel is headed outside Canada, LetterAgent cannot provide the label, so use a carrier that serves that destination directly. Put the label flat on the largest side of the box, clear of seams, and photograph the sealed parcel before drop-off. Weigh the packed box before you ask for the quote, since a full set of thick bath towels can approach the 5 kg limit once the box and bag are counted, so split the set across two boxes if the scale says you are over.
