How do I ship a cookware set?

Wash and dry every piece, nest pots with a divider between each one, wrap lids and handles separately, and pack the heaviest pot on the bottom of a strong box. A cookware set damages itself in transit when pieces knock together, so separation matters more than extra padding on the outside. Weigh the packed box before labelling, since a full set is heavy.

How do I nest pots and pans without scratching them?

Never stack bare metal on bare metal. Place a sheet of packing paper, a paper towel, or a felt pad between each pot, and do the same between a pot and its lid. Nonstick coatings scratch easily, and a single scratch from a shifting lid can ruin a pan that was otherwise in good shape. Stainless steel is tougher, but it still shows scuffs, and a scuffed set looks used even when it is not.

Nest by size, largest on the outside, and keep handles aligned rather than crossed. Crossed handles create pressure points and can bend a thinner handle if the box is dropped. Wrap each lid on its own, with the knob protected: a lid knob is a small, hard point that chips and dents whatever it presses against. Glass lids get the same treatment as any glass item, wrapped alone and never used as a divider between heavy pots.

How do I distribute weight in the box?

Put the heaviest pot on the bottom, the next heaviest above it, and the lightest pieces and lids on top. A top-heavy box tips when it is set down and crushes the lighter pieces underneath. Fill the gaps around the nested stack with crumpled paper so the stack cannot lean, but do not overfill: a box that bulges at the sides has lost its crush strength, and the sides are what protect the set when another parcel lands on it.

For a large set, consider splitting it across two boxes. Two medium boxes that each survive a drop are better than one overloaded box that fails. This also helps with the weight limit: a full cookware set with packing can easily pass 5 kg, and at that point a LetterAgent Xpresspost label will not cover the parcel. Weigh each box as you finish it, not at the end.

Should I include anything else in the box?

A short packing note on top of the stack is useful, especially for a gift or a second-hand sale: what the set includes, and whether any piece has a known scratch or a missing part. Honest notes prevent disputes later, and they cost nothing. Do not include loose items like utensils or a recipe book unless they are wrapped separately, because a loose item becomes a projectile inside a heavy box.

Photograph the set before packing and photograph the sealed box. If a piece arrives damaged, those two photos show the condition before shipping and the state of the box on arrival, which is exactly what a carrier or a seller platform asks for. Keep the photos until the recipient confirms the set arrived in good shape.

How do I get a shipping label for a cookware set?

Ask your AI assistant for a Canada Post Xpresspost shipping label through LetterAgent, approve the exact quoted price, and print the label PDF. LetterAgent labels are Canada-only, flat-rate Xpresspost, and cover parcels up to 5 kg. If the parcel is headed outside Canada, LetterAgent cannot provide the label, so use a carrier that serves that destination directly. Put the label flat on the largest side of the box, clear of seams, and photograph the sealed parcel before drop-off. A full set may need to be split across two labelled boxes, so weigh each packed box before you ask for the quote.
