No. Canada Post does not collect or deliver regular mail on Thanksgiving Monday, October 12, 2026. Corporate post offices are closed, street letter boxes are not emptied, and anything you drop in waits until Tuesday. Private postal outlets inside stores follow the store's own hours, so a few may still be open.
There is not. Canada Post observes Thanksgiving as a holiday across the country, and regular collection and delivery simply pause for the day. Your mail is not lost and nothing is rerouted; the whole system takes the day off and resumes Tuesday, October 13. If you are waiting on something, the honest plan is to expect it a day later than the usual rhythm, because Monday's route becomes Tuesday's route.

Corporate Canada Post offices are closed for the day. The wrinkle is the private postal outlet: the counter inside a Shoppers Drug Mart, grocery store, or pharmacy that sells stamps and accepts parcels. Those outlets follow the host business's hours, not Canada Post's, so if the store is open on Thanksgiving, the postal counter inside may be open too. You can buy stamps or drop a parcel there, but do not expect it to move until Tuesday, because nothing is being collected behind the scenes.
Street letter boxes are the quiet trap. They are not emptied on the holiday, so a letter you drop in on Sunday night or Monday sits there until the Tuesday collection. If something has a Tuesday deadline, mailing it Monday is really mailing it Tuesday. For anything time-sensitive, mail it Friday or Saturday, or hold it until Tuesday morning.
Thanksgiving Monday is a full pause, not a slowdown, so there is no premium counter service to buy your way around it at a corporate office. Your options are planning around it or using a private courier, and even couriers run holiday schedules. The practical move for bills, applications, and anything with a mid-October deadline is to build in the extra day now rather than discover it on Monday. If you already mailed something late last week, check the tracking on Tuesday morning instead of Monday; Monday's status will just say it is waiting.
Different holiday, different Monday. American Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday of November, which in 2026 is November 26, and USPS does not deliver that day either. So for about six weeks each fall, the two countries' postal holidays are completely out of sync: Canada pauses in mid-October while the US works normally, and the US pauses in late November while Canada works normally. If you are mailing across the border in either window, expect an extra day on one side or the other.
