Sometimes. Some schools accept registration forms by fax, but many still ask you to bring proof of residence and identity documents in person or upload them through a portal. Check the registration packet for a fax number and a list of pages that must arrive as originals, and send the rest only after the office confirms fax is accepted.
| Part of the packet | Usually faxed? |
|---|---|
| Registration form itself | Often yes, if the school lists a fax number |
| Proof of residence | Sometimes; some schools want the original or a certified copy |
| Birth certificate or ID pages | Often no; many schools check these in person |
| Immunization records | Often yes, but the health office may want its own copy |
Registration is really two jobs at once: collecting your information and verifying it. A fax handles the first job well. The second job is harder, because a faxed copy of a lease or a birth certificate does not prove the original exists. That is why many schools accept the form by fax but still ask you to show certain documents in person before the first day of class. Ask which pages fall in each group before you send anything.
Three questions cover most surprises. First, does the school accept registration by fax at all this year, or has it moved to an online portal? Second, which pages must arrive as originals or in person? Third, who confirms receipt, and how long should you wait before calling to check? Write down the name of the person who answers. Registration offices are busy in late summer, and a named contact makes a follow-up call far shorter.
Mid-year registrations add one more wrinkle: records from the previous school. The new school may fax a records request itself, or it may ask you to sign a release. Either way, the registration form and the records request are separate documents going to separate places, so do not assume faxing one covers the other. Confirm the start date in writing once the packet is complete, since a child is not officially enrolled until the school says so.
LetterAgent fax is available in testing for US and Canadian fax numbers, and it does not accept inbound faxes. You describe the fax to your AI assistant, get a per-fax quote with the page count verified, approve the exact total, and pay once through Stripe. Because the service is still in testing, check availability before you rely on it for a hard deadline, and keep your confirmation page either way.
