It depends on the provider. Some scholarship programs list a fax number for applications, while others accept only online portals or mailed packets. Read the instructions on the application itself: if fax is not listed as an accepted method, do not assume it counts. Send early, keep the confirmation page, and confirm receipt before the deadline passes.
The application instructions are the only authority here. Some providers still run a fax line for applicants without reliable internet access, and they say so plainly. Others moved to portals years ago and treat a faxed application as not received. If the instructions list several methods, fax is fine. If they name one method only, use that one. A phone call or email to the provider settles any doubt, and it costs far less than a missed deadline.
This is where faxing gets tricky. Many scholarships ask for recommendations in sealed envelopes or sent directly by the recommender, precisely so the applicant never handles them. A faxed copy of a recommendation that you handled yourself may not count, even if the rest of your application is fine. Check whether recommenders must send their letters separately, and by what method. If they must, your job is to give them the deadline and the address early, not to fax their letter for them.
| Piece of the application | Fax caution |
|---|---|
| Application form | Fine if fax is a listed method |
| Transcript | Some providers want it sent by the school directly |
| Recommendation letters | Often must come from the recommender, not you |
| Financial documents | Check what the provider asks for; send only what is requested |
Send at least a few days early and confirm receipt before the deadline day. Fax confirmations prove a fax went through, not that a human filed it with your application, so a short confirmation call or email matters. Keep copies of everything you sent, plus the confirmation page, until the provider announces decisions. If anything goes missing, a complete copy set lets you resend the same day instead of rebuilding the application from scratch.
LetterAgent fax is available in testing for US and Canadian fax numbers, and it does not accept inbound faxes. You describe the fax to your AI assistant, get a per-fax quote with the page count verified, approve the exact total, and pay once through Stripe. Because the service is still in testing, check availability before you rely on it for a hard deadline, and keep your confirmation page either way.
Ready to fax it? Fax with LetterAgent: describe it to your AI assistant, approve the exact quoted price, and it is sent.
