Yes, in most cases. Many school offices accept a signed permission slip by fax, and the fax number is usually printed on the slip itself or on the school website. Call the office first to confirm it still accepts faxes, then send every page, keep the confirmation sheet, and check that the office received it before the trip deadline.
Start with the slip itself. Field trip forms often print the office fax number near the return instructions, and school websites usually list a separate fax number for each building in the staff directory or contact page. Do not use the district head office number unless the form says to: a slip sent to the wrong building can sit unread while the trip deadline passes. If no number appears anywhere, a quick call to the main office settles it.
| Page to send | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| The signed slip, all pages | Back pages often carry medical notes or pickup rules |
| Emergency contact page, if separate | Trip staff need it on the day, not just in the office file |
| Cover sheet | Student name, grade, teacher, and trip date route it to the right desk |
The classic failure is a missing second page. Parents sign the front, fax it, and never notice the back carried allergy details or an alternate pickup name. Another common one is a signature cut off at the edge of the scan, which forces the office to ask for a fresh copy. Check your pages before sending: every edge visible, handwriting dark, nothing folded over. A short call after sending beats discovering the problem on the morning of the trip.
Send it as soon as you sign it, not the night before the trip. Offices process faxes during school hours, and a slip that arrives after the office closes may not reach the teacher until the next day. If the form names a return deadline, treat the day before as your real deadline so a failed or blurry fax leaves time for a second try. Keep the confirmation page with the date and time on it until the trip is over.
LetterAgent fax is available in testing for US and Canadian fax numbers, and it does not accept inbound faxes. You describe the fax to your AI assistant, get a per-fax quote with the page count verified, approve the exact total, and pay once through Stripe. Because the service is still in testing, check availability before you rely on it for a hard deadline, and keep your confirmation page either way.
Ready to fax it? Fax with LetterAgent: describe it to your AI assistant, approve the exact quoted price, and it is sent.
