For expected Christmas 2026 delivery to APO, FPO, and DPO addresses, USPS recommends sending Ground Advantage by Wednesday, November 4; First-Class Mail and Priority Mail by Wednesday, December 9; and Priority Mail Express Military by Wednesday, December 16. LetterAgent's labels are Canada-only, so these dates are for USPS shippers.

Dates verified against the official USPS 2026 holiday shipping page. These are recommended send-by dates for expected delivery before December 25, not guarantees: USPS notes that actual delivery can vary with origin, destination, and acceptance time.
Ground Advantage is the economy service: it moves partly by surface transport, which is the slowest leg of the journey to an overseas military post office. USPS puts its military Ground Advantage cutoff at November 4, a full five weeks before the Priority Mail date. If you are sending a care package with the cheapest postage, that early-November date is the one to circle, because missing it means the package is still somewhere in transit when Christmas arrives.
Priority Mail and First-Class Mail share the December 9 date because both travel primarily by air to the military gateway. The fastest option, Priority Mail Express Military (PMEMS), buys you one more week, to December 16. But note the gaps in the table: PMEMS is not available to ZIP 093 at all, and USPS says it only serves selected military and diplomatic post offices, so confirm with your local post office that it reaches the specific APO/FPO/DPO address before you pay for it.
For most holiday care packages, Priority Mail is the sweet spot: it gets the December 9 cutoff, includes tracking through the USPS leg, and the flat-rate boxes keep costs predictable for heavy items like canned goods and toiletries. Ground Advantage makes sense for early planners shipping non-perishable, non-urgent items in October. First-Class Mail fits letters and cards more than packages, since it has weight limits that most care packages exceed. PMEMS is for the genuinely last-minute: expensive, but the only option with a mid-December cutoff.
Whatever service you pick, the same military-mail rules apply: address it to the individual service member (never "any service member"), use APO/FPO with the two-letter code and ZIP and never write the actual country name, and attach the customs form. Restrictions vary by destination ZIP, so check the USPS list for the exact ZIP before you pack anything perishable or unusual.
Ship it anyway, but reset expectations. The dates are recommendations, not a switch that flips: a package mailed December 10 via Priority Mail may still arrive before Christmas if the destination is well served, and one mailed December 8 may miss if holiday volume surges. USPS is explicit that these are not guarantees. If the package absolutely must arrive on time, PMEMS is the only lever left, and only where it is offered.
One calendar note for 2026: Hanukkah runs December 4 through December 12, earlier than Christmas, so if the package is for Hanukkah rather than Christmas, the December 9 dates are already too late for the start of the holiday. For Hanukkah deliveries, treat the Priority Mail cutoff as late November in practice and send earlier.
